The Escape Button is a unique escape & evasion cutting tool designed to avoid detection during a search by captors.
At first glance it appears to be a regular clothing button, drawing no attention. But it can quickly transform into a knife with a serrated blade.
To open the blade, simply run your fingernail along the button’s perimeter to pivot the blade out of the button’s interior. The button now functions as the knife hilt, providing a positive grip between your thumb and forefinger with excellent control. It can cut zip-ties, cord, rope, and tape, increasing your chances of escape from hostile control in the worst of circumstances.
The Escape Button can be sewn into your clothing or carried inconspicuously in a pocket. Many jackets, vests, and shirts are shipped with one or more extra buttons in a small plastic bag in one pocket, so the Escape Button wouldn’t seem out of place in many circumstances.
If you choose to sew it into your clothing, make sure to use low breaking-strength thread and install the button somewhere it can be reached and yanked off even while your wrists are bound behind your back — areas such as your waistband, back or leg pockets, or pant leg hem.
The Escape Button is manufactured in the USA from a standard mil-spec 3/4-inch diameter plastic BDU button, and weighs just 0.05 oz. The blade is 7/16-inch long and manufactured from 1095 steel.
