This 2017 stamp set from the People’s Republic of China celebrates the 90th Anniversary of the People’s Liberation Army. In 1927, the Chinese Civil War began, which pitted nationalist forces of the Kuomintang government against the Chinese Communist Party. The 22-year-long war ultimately resulted in a victory of the Chinese Communist Party on China’s mainland, and the withdrawal of the Kuomintang forces to the island of Taiwan, which remains in dispute to this day.

These six stamps are each valued at 1.20 Chinese renminbi yuan and feature the different branches of the Chinese armed forces: The People’s Liberation Army, the PLA Navy, the PLA Air Force, PLA Rocket Forces, PLA Strategic Support, and PLA Armed Police Force.
