Soviet 1000 Ruble Note

This Soviet 1000 Ruble note was redesigned and printed in late 1991, the twilight days of the Soviet Union's existence. 

The new 1991-dated banknotes were all issued with more colour and heightened security features from the previous 1961-dated notes. One surprising modification of the design was the removal of the text in the native languages of other Soviet republics. Now all text was in Russian only in the 1992 issued notes.

Because of the staggered timeline for releasing new notes in the 1991 series, these 1,000 Ruble notes were not issued until March 1992, after the Soviet collapse. A fascinating vestige of the end of an empire, they were circulated, used, and exchanged bearing the markings of a country that no longer existed.

After the breakup of the Soviet Union, many newly independent republics chose to continue circulating Soviet Rubles even after the introduction of the new Russian Federation Rubles beginning later in 1992.

I only have a few of these notes remaining so I have decided to sell them separately from my other Ruble bundle. These notes are all in well-used condition and may have a few staiins, creases, tears, etc. No two notes are exactly alike in physical condition. Each note ships in a plastic sleeve to protect against any additional wear and tear.
